Welcome to the Jikiden Reiki Association!
The Jikiden Reiki Association is an international community of
Jikiden Reiki practitioners and teachers supporting each other
in their practice of this form of Usui Reiki. The Jikiden Reiki
Association is dedicated to promoting communication among
Jikiden pracitioners and Jikiden teachers and to providing
information about the teaching and traditional practice of a
simple, effective and original form of Usui Reiki taught
by Dr.
Chujiro Hayashi in Japan in the 1930s. Dr. Hayashi learned Reiki and the Reiki Gokai or
precepts directly from Mikao Usui the founder of Reiki and was
one of his 22 Reiki teachers. The Jikiden Reiki Association's primary purpose is
to promote the teaching and practice of the form of
Reiki that Dr. Hayashi learned from Usui and taught The word
"Jikiden" means directly handed down without alteration. Jikiden
Reiki is closely aligned with the Reiki Gokai (Precepts) for
Health and Happiness authored by Mikao Usui and its center is the Jikiden
Reiki Kenkyukai or Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan. Mrs.
Chiyoko Yamaguchi, the cofounder of Jikiden Reiki took her first Reiki seminar from Chujiro
Hayashi in Ishikawa, Japan, in 1938 at the age of 17 and she practiced and taught Reiki in Japan until she died in 2003. The
Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai was cofounded by Chiyoko Yamaguchi and
her son Tadao Yamaguchi. Mr. Yamaguchi and Jikiden teachers
taught by the Yamaguchis are currently teaching
Jikiden Reiki seminars worldwide. Tadao Yamaguchi's highly
recommended book
Light on the Origins of Reiki: A Handbook for Practicing the
Original Reiki of Usui and Hayashi
gives a Japanese spiritual,
historical and cultural context
to the practice
and origins of Reiki in the world today.

Further Jikiden Reiki Studies
beyond Shoden and Okuden
If
after completing Jikiden Reiki Shoden and Okuden, you
wish to teach otehrs how to use Jikiden Reiki, then you
may want to become a Jikiden teacher or Shihan. There
are initially two levels of Jikiden Reiki teacher: Shihan Kaku
or
Jikiden Reiki apprentice teacher and Shihan or Jikiden
Reiki teacher. Jikiden students
wishing to teach Jikiden Reiki seminars must know the
contents of the Shoden and Okuden seminars completely and
be able to recite the
Gokai
(the Five Reiki Principles)
in Japanese.
Shihan Kaku or Apprentice
Teacher: the first level of Jikiden Reiki Teacher
If you intend to take the Shihan Kaku or apprentice
teacher seminar, you must attend at least
two Shoden and Okuden seminars, one of which is ideally
taken with Tadao Yamaguchi, theco-founder of Jikiden
Reiki, or another Shihan that he has designated as Dai
Shihan and authorized to teach the Shihan Kaku level.
You must also fulfill the treatment requirements below. The goal is
that the Shihan Kaku student feels confident and is competent
to teach the material involved in teaching a Shoden or
first level Jikiden Reiki seminar. Shihan Kaku students are
exprected to be well prepared so that they maintain a high standard
as a Jikiden Reiki teacher.
A Shihan Kaku or
assistant teacher can teach the Shoden level seminar. In
order to apply to take the Shihan Kaku seminar, a Jikiden
Reiki student must first treat at least 40 people
hands-on For a minimum of 120
hours and document each treatment by a short synopsis
for each treatment. Out of all the treatments given, the
student must provide to the Jikiden Reiki Institute 10
long client case studies from among the 40 individuals
treated. Like all Jikiden Reiki students all
Shihan Kakus are centrally registered with the Jikiden
Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan. A recommended way to keep
track of Jikiden treatments is the linked
treatmentrecord.xls.
Jikiden Reiki Shihan: the second level of Jikiden Reiki
TeacherAfter
teaching at least 10 student Jikiden Reiki Shoden over a
period of at least six months to a year or more and
obtaining written feedback from at least 10 Jikiden Shoden
students, a Shihan Kaku or apprentice teacher may apply
to take a Shihan seminar and to become a Jikiden Reiki
Shihan or Teacher. A Jikiden Reiki Shihan may teach both
the Shoden and Okuden level Jikiden seminars. Part of
becoming a Shihan involves ordering and purchasing the Gokai No Sho scroll
and pictures of Usui-sensei, Hayashi-sebsei and
Chiyoko-sensei from the Jikiden Reiki Institute. These
items are exhibited at each Jikiden Reiki seminar a
Shihan teaches.
The current cost of the Gokai No Sho
and the pictures
as well the Shihan Kaku and Shihan seminars and the pictures can
